Have a blessed Christmas!

I realized I haven’t posted anything on this blog since September, even though I kept posting topics on the forum.

The three-month course on Parenting Teens for the Real World ended the last week of November. I appreciated the positive feedback and encouragement. It is always a blessing to hear from parents their improved relationship with their children. My hope is that they will share what they have learned and mentor other parents.

I have just posted an article from Great Schools on the topic of teaching children about giving. Children are so obsessed with the idea of getting during Christmas, and little thought is given to helping others. We as parents can make a difference by role modeling the importance of helping others less fortunate by donating our time and resources. A few weeks ago at church, I saw some families picking a child from the Angel Tree with their children, and that was a great way to start. As the author of the article says, “Giving gives children a sense of self-esteem and pride…Giving is addictive. It gets in your blood. It makes you realize that you and your actions matter.”

I wish you and your family a blessed Christmas! Jesus is the reason for the season!
